Character RecyclingOkay, it may just be me, but has anyone else noticed that characters from Twilight have been slightly altered and used again in The Host? A few obvious ones were...
Wanda. She looks suspiciously like human-Rosalie.
Ian. He's a little softer in The Host, but does anyone see Emmett?
Also, Wanda and Ian end up together just like Emmett and Rosalie...
Sharon is Victoria, with no real change.
Jamie looks and acts a LOT like Jacob.
The Seeker's physical description is practically identical to Alice.
Those are the only ones I caught. Can anyone else think of others?
Anyone have any other thoughts?

I hadn't noticed and I don't really want to... but honestly, i don't want to have resemblance's. The Twilight series is honestly to big a part for Stephenie and I think she probably doesn't want people to think of the characters as Twilight ones. So, i'm gonna go on thinking they're new characters. ^^

Haha, that's true I guess. By the time I realized it though, I'd already assigned the characters different faces in my head. So I didn't get confused (luckily). x]

I never got confused, it just annoyed me how she seems to put all the characters from Twilight into the Host. It's like she can't come up with any new ones. But the pairs I saw are way different.
Jeb = Aro, cause he's freakishly curious and clever.
Ian = Edward because of how gentlemanly he is, and protective.
Jared = Jake + Jasper Jake is similar to Jared's personality, with a mix of Jasperish.
Wanda = Bella Do i really have to explain this one?
Doc = Carlisle one word: compassion.
Wes = Quil they are young, flirty, persistent... hey, wes is kinda like jake too.
The Seeker is kinda like Alice... I never noticed that one. There's no one who's way funny though, like Emmett.

Stop saying it please... I don't give a flying f about who appears to be who in the books. They're all their own characters. Stop trying to put the two together. If there's one thing that annoys ME, it's people comparing characters.

yeah i agree with Kayla (thehostwriter) I dont really want to compare characters. It is interesting but they are characters from two different books.

agree also..plus as many similarities there are...SM is AMAZING...plus some may see these simmilarities...not saying that I do or dont...but still I kept a fresh mind...If you do...you fall in love with the characters in a new way...plus the characters are still fresh because as IanLover said...they are in a new book...in new situations...with different people around them...and different friends...=)

That's very true. :]

Wanda/Melanie together kind of reminded me of Bella. Ian was the one who reminded me of Jacob. Dunno why. Now that you mention it, Jamie is a lot like more like Jacob than Ian is. The Seeker and Alice? I don't see any similarities other than being small. I'd hardly count the black hair since it's not spikey and black hair is common in that part of the US.
So anyway, no. I don't think she recycled any characters. It's obvious that she has certain character styles she likes to repeat, but I don't think she reused anybody.

I see what you mean. It's more of a character style, not the actual characters.

I think a lot about Seth when I read about Jamie. They're both adorable XD
About the rest, I don't see much of the similarities though. Maybe I'm too used to thinking they're different people

You guys are reading into the characters way too much, sure there's similarities but thats cause there are so many physical attributes Stephenie can use before having to use some again.
you only see similar characters because you want to.
That being said, I totally see some of the connections

Sharon=Rosalie
Doc=Carlisle

I've finally figured out WHY people think that the characters are being recycled!!! It's because Twilight was Stephenie's first and it's always, "omg! It's all the same characters! OMG! Did you notice this about him and how he's like Emmett or Edward."
The Host and The Twilight Saga are TOTALLY two different tales, I'm going to slaughter you all with a spoon if you keep being stupid and all twilight and host are the same obsessed.
Yes, i am a bitch... and i don't really care!

I think it's silly to compare the physical attributes of the characters. For one thing, the appearance of a character in a book isn't terribly significant. Also, just because two people are, say, blonde and pretty, that doesn't mean they look the same. The only personality similarities that stuck out at me were Bella to Wanda and Jacob to Jamie. Bella and Wanda are both very self-sacrificing and Jacob and Jamie are both sweet, yet tough, and good friends to their respective main characters. Many authors use some aspects of themselves or people they know in their writing, so it is only natural that some traits come out in more than one character. That doesn't keep all of an author's works from being unique.
