i've realized now that if edward ever came for me, i'd probably decline (especially now) .
there is nothing like edward and bella, she brings out the best in him.
and i guess the same can be said for ian and wanderer, but idk, ian is just... human i guess? so i love them both equally

hehe...I love both Ian and Edward...i don't know if I would pick Ian over Edward or visa versa...as terrible as this sounds...if I were to meet them...I would want to just meet one...or I'd pick Edward...=P...agh...SM creates so many amazing guys...it's so hard to pick...=)

Yeah I know what you mean. I would really pick Edward but that's what 99% of her fans are going to do so that's why I chose Ian because he is as good as Edward and most people won't pick him.

I see your point...though when I say I'd pick any one I feel like a traitor to the other...but still...Edward...I think it's because I've known Edward for so much longer...but there is no doubt that Ian is absolutely fantastic and amazing and kind...and lovable...and amazing...=)

Yeah that is true.
The only advatage Edward has on Ian is being immortal and being a vampire. Otherwise they are pretty much equal.

Personally, I think Ian is kind of like Edward. I mean, they both are protective (except Ian isn't annoyingly protective), he's very... romantic? Maybe that's the word. His dialogue is similar to Ed's, as he says stuff like "I held you in my hand, Wanderer, and you were beautiful". Also, he has a family member that dislikes his love.
I think that a ton of the characters in the Host have some of the same characteristics of the Twilight characters.
Jared is really good at fighting and the survival life, like Jasper. Jeb is insanely curious like Aro, Jamie kind of reminds me of Seth in some parts, Wanda is sooo much like Bella... in almost everything.

I agree with most of it. I have a question though. HOw is Jeb like Aro? I havent read the twilight books in a while so my memory is a lil dusty.

whoa...I never noticed that?! Well kind of with bella and wanda and Ian and Edward...but the rest I didn't notice...nice observation...but still...some of the other characters were original...just some of the main ideas resembled Twilight a little...Stephenie Meyer is great at coming up with new characters...but still encorperating the main Characteristics that we love...yaay for her...=)

Well, they're not THAT alike. I mean, Jeb's more courteous. Mostly it's cause they're insanely curious. That's both of their primary characteristics, in my view.
Actually, I think that the books have a huge similarity. SM is really into different species. It's funny - the vampires in Twilight could be connected to the humans in the Host. Ian (who's like Edward) happens to fall in love with someone he originally tired to kill (Edward just thought about it...), and a family member ends up hating what his girlfriend is. Both happen to fall in love with a different species, and both girls are similar.
It's just a little theory I have, and maybe I'm construing all kinds of things out of nothing.  Idk. It's just interesting.

Ya, and besides she worked hard on both books and If you wrote a MAJOR series and then a quote on quote "smaller" book ur charectors would be semi-similar 2.

Ok, I'm going to get a lot of flack for this one. I don't like Ian very much. I can buy that he changes his opinion for Wanda from kill on sight to eventualy falling in love with her over a period of time. That I get. But he is in my opinion not a very good person for his disreguard for Mel. It's her body after all, and she's still in it. She still feels whats happening to it etc. And he still was putting the moves on Wanda? EWWW!

Okay, this one hasn't been written on in a long time and Ian deserves better!!
I can totally see why Kat doesn't like Ian, though I absolutely do not agree! I love him! He is incredibly sweet and caring. And I know how he kinda doesn't seem like he cares about Mel but I think he does. I mean he never keeps going if Wanda asks him to stop. But he loves Wanda, and he wants to be close to her. To sum up I love IAN!!!

The point is that he only stops because Wanda asks him. Because Wanda says Mel would give her a hard time. He seems to just want Mel to deal with it, even though she is there and feels everything. Its her body, not Wanda's, even if she has purloined it for the moment. Ian is kreepy!

Oh my I fell in love with Ian, more than I fell in love with Edward. And I thought that would never happen. He will love you no matter whether you are human or an alien, he likes a girl for their personality and that is so adorable as most guys don't!!
