The Book!I LOVE THIS BOOK! It's amazing and even though it's slow in parts, it's great. I love it! I recommend it to EVERYONE!!!! Stephenie Meyer has an incredible imagination. WONDERFUL! hehe

yea i would never be able to make up whole planets and stuff
but the beginning was like DEAD BORING
i was dying DX lol

Me too, I was like...
"COME ON!!!ACTION PLEASE!!!!!!"
IanLover

haha yeah I loved it. My favorite parts were whenever Jeb and Wanderer were together. Jeb is pretty cool. I'd want him for an uncle.
IanRoxMySox

Me, too he's pretty cool.

When Wanderer didnt want them to shoot the Seeker, I was shocked and yet not surprised because at first I didnt think she would want that but then I realized how Wanderer is.

I love this book!!!! Some parts can be boring at the beginning...but still...it is a PHENOMENAL book...=)...plus...Ian's in the book...yaay

Haha, I agree with you all. I liked Ian since he noticed that Wanderer was scared in her hole.
Stephenie Meyer is obviously uber-talented, but I can't believe how she is SO good at making up her own worlds and drawing you in until you don't want to leave. Her writing is so...powerful.

Powerful AND addictive!

I agree...though I don't own a copy...so the addiction is really strong because I can't get a hold of the book ever since I turned it back in to the library...=(...I shoulda stole the book...they would never have known

I liked all of it except the first... like, 150 pages. I always skip those, because it's SOOOOO boring. Twilight was like that for me, although it got good a little faster. It's funny - for some reason I thought that the Host was going to be way different than it was. Idk why, and idk what I was thinking it'd be like, but not like that. But I don't like the ending - it leaves too much to guess work!! That whole idea with the rebel cells is awesome. I'm guessing that she'll do a sequel. (Hopefully... !!!)
stepheniemeyerisamazing
ooohh...I hope she does a sequel...but if she does...I don't think it would come out any time soon...unless she made it priority over Midnight Sun... but if she made a sequel she'd have to make a concrete ending in the end ... and that would be hard...especially because she left the host so open that everyone has come up wiht their own theory of the end by now...and she would/could only end it one way...
Leah
Wait... what? One way? What exactly are you talking about? lol
stepheniemeyerisamazing
| Leah wrote: | But I don't like the ending - it leaves too much to guess work!! That whole idea with the rebel cells is awesome. I'm guessing that she'll do a sequel. (Hopefully... !!!) |
so I was saying if she did a sequel she would only get to write one ending for the story...and since she left the host's ending so open, people have come up with their own endings...and she couldn't use every ending that anyone ever thought of...so some people would read the ending of her sequel and it wouldn't be the ending that they thought of ... and some people might be disappointed because of that...sorry if it was confusing...=)
Leah
Oh, I get it now!! Yeah, actually I haven't come up with an ending really. Maybe it'll be like in Prince Caspian... have you seen that? Maybe some souls will leave, and some will stay, but souls and humans will live in peace. Either that, or the souls leave all together. That's my ideal ending.
stepheniemeyerisamazing
I hadn't thought of one either....just thought other people had...but I agree with yours...so Mel and Wanderer could live together...because if you got rid of humans or souls completely that would suck...so I like the ending you created...=)

Very good thinking. I like it. If everything was summed up that way, I'd be just great. :]
Is no one else scared that with Wanda going out on all these raids that someday they're all going to get caught? Because when I was reading the book, I was just waiting for it to happen.
IanRoxMySox
Me too, like with the police car and her ALMOST getting caught.
But now I doubt it will happen
Colors the Sky
Yeah, I think I stopped breathing when I read that part. I am SO glad that souls aren't a suspicious species, or I would have died along with all the humans. x]
IanRoxMySox
ditto here XD
Leah
Of course she won't get caught, because that wouldn't be a happy ending, now would it?
Pet

its true. we now have proof that stephenie meyer is a fan of happy endings.

Yes she is. She also likes to hang you off the edge of the cliff of suspense.

and that is what makes her AMAZING
Max
I'm reading it now. I'm about halfway through. I got it from the library and I only have a week to finish it.... it usually takes me a week to get started! So I've been reading a lot, lol.
WishingWantingWilling
well be careful which forums u go in before u finish though
they're all full of spoilers
Max
Yea, I know what to watch for. I usually welcome spoilers but there are certain things about this story I want to figure out as I'm reading. Like how Wanda gets her own body. Actually, that's the only thing I don't want to know until I'm supposed to. Dunno why. I've never turned down a spoiler before O_O.
But what the crap? Wes got shot in the head. Stephenie Meyer can't write sex scenes but she can write about a poor man getting a bullet put through his brain? That's just... sick. Disgusting. Wrong. Why would she do that? There was no need for it. I haven't even officially read the chapter yet. I just looked over and saw "Wes is dead." Then I turned the page and saw "The Seeker shot him through the head. It blew right out the back." and I'm thinking... what the f*ck?. And then I remembered who Wes was and that just made it all the worse. This book is tainted now. I don't even want to finish it.
katzen
Actually that scene wasn't described in details, so it's not that disgusting
I think it makes the book more realistic if there are people dying. Life's not always full of happiness.
But SM's a fan of happy endings, so it won't be too much death. At least not as much as in Harry Potter, I hope.
Max
Wasn't described in detail? Going through his forehead and blowing out the back isn't detail enough for you? X_X
WishingWantingWilling
oh i no!
i hated that so much
it made me feel so depresed about it all
but i guess there has to be some death
Max
| WishingWantingWilling wrote: | oh i no!

Yea, there has to be some death but she doesn't have to describe it like that. Yeesh. I mean, maybe it wouldn't be so bad if she described the good stuff as well (ie: sex, ahem) because I think death is a little more disturbing than creating life.

I cried every time I read the part where Wanderer is about to have Doc take her out and die
like a baby.
Max
Meh. I was used to it. Bella did that all the time. Kill me for them! Same with the vomiting. I swear Stephenie has some sort of vomiting fetish, lol. On a side note, she also seems to think that Morphine is the only available painkiller on earth.
Max
I'm rereading the book, you guys. I can't believe it. I've never been able to reread a book before... well, not a chapter book. I can't. Once the element of surprise is gone, I have nothing to hold my attention but I'm actually rereading this one! Word. For. Word.
Ian<3
Really?? I love to re-read books, I feel like I miss stuff the first time.
Max
It's pretty much like I am reading this book for the first time (even though I just read it a few weeks ago) because my memory is shot. Plus, I'm starting to have a hard time distinguishing between the book and fanfiction XD.
Ian<3
lol I think it is a mark of a good book when you can re-read it and it is still really good. =] Have you found any good fan fiction? I've been wanting to read some... just to see if I like it.
Max
I've found a lot of good fanfiction.

OMG our forum's abandoned
where's everyone???

I re-read every one of my books, especially the host, and i have over 200 books in my room alone.

i only reread books when i really like them but i do
i usually find something i read over, didn't know, or realize each time :]

Max left. Everything dies when Max leaves.
Sorry guys = /
Bristym
yeah, the twilight books were pretty good, but the ending of the last one made me angry...someone should have died
Ian<3
I think people always have to complain about the last book in a series.... Not everyone likes it. But I think if SM had killed someone, people would have been like " Man no one needed to die.. She didn't have to kill people." I personally loved BD.
I left too. Sorry. I'm back now. =]

IRINA DIED!
Bristym
yeah...i guess so, but the ending should have been more exciting. it was so suspenseful and then nothing happened.
katzen
I felt a little weird, but it's still a wonderful ending. I wouldn't want it to change
Ian<3
Ohhh yeah. I kinda forgot about her!!
See death. =]
Bristym
thats because irina is easy to forget...no offense to any irina fans..
Ian<3
Lol are there any Irina fans??
Doesn't seem likely... She wasn't that big of a role.
Bristym
so very true...besides, she kinda made me angry...no clue why but she does...
Ian<3
Yeah I didn't like her.
But I know why. =]
Stupid vampire going to the volturi!!
Bristym
yep. thats gotta be it. its not like i have anything against the volturi...not really...but theres just no purpose for them.
katzen
The volturi are stupid vampires who want to take over the world. Irina gets on my nerves too. Especially when she made her family leave the Cullens just because of Laurent
I think they only have one purpose: make the story continue
Ian<3
See I love The Volturi. They are absolutely the best villains ever.
Because yeah I hate them, they are horrible and care only for themselves.
But I also respect them because they keep vampire wars from getting out of control.
But i agree without them it would be hard to continue the story.
Bristym
i wonder how the story would have went if there were no volturi to keep the vampires under control...there would have been lots of blood and horror...sounds good to me
Ian<3
Lol yeah.
But then it would have been just like every other vampire story.
Bristym
yeah, but there would be gore and violence!
Ian<3
Lol yeah.
I love Twilight because it is different, but man I love me a good, gory, bloody vampire movie or book.
Bristym
yes!!! finally, someone who has the same taste as me! I thought i was crazy for loving that kind of stuff. i also like suspense...can't get enough of it!
Ian<3
Omgosh no way!! I feel the same way! It seems like everyone always looks at me all weird when I saw I love those kinds of movies!!!
But oh yeah, suspense. =]
I love movies that have me holding my breath!!!
Bristym
awesome! have you seen hannibal rising? that wasn't so much as gory, but it was somewhat suspenseful. i thought it was pretty good.
Ian<3
OOOOO no. Is it in the same series as Silence of the Lambs?
Bristym
yeah. its like a prequel. it tells you how he came to be what he is. It's pretty neat.
Ian<3
Ooooo I love Silence of the Lambs so I bet I'd love it.
Bristym
i haven't seen that one yet. i have it, just haven't gotten around to watching it though. too much to do.
Ian<3
I know what you mean. I decided a few weeks ago I wanted to read some books that are considered clas know I am such a loser!! But anyway between school and pets, and looking for a job I just never have time to do the fun stuff. =[
Bristym
i know exactly what you mean, except for the job part. no transportation, no job, which means no money.
Ian<3
Ugh I know how that is..... I have a car but no job. And I don't want to ask my mom for money. I don't know it just feels.... wrong. IDK.
Bristym
yep. i babysit on occasion, but that doesn't bring in much money. i rely on birthday, and holidays.
Ian<3
Lol yeah. I love when people actually ask me what I want for presents, my answer is almost always money or gift cards. =]
Bristym
yep! same here. Excepet that i ask for gift cards to books stores too, so that i dont have to buy the books that i need with my own money
Ian<3
Yeah me too. My whole family hates reading so when I ask they all look at me all funny. =] I so don't fit in with my family. They all love to shop, and like the only place I'll stay for longer than 15 minutes are bookstores.
Bristym
same here. i would spend hours in a bookstore if i could, but i cant unfortunately, because my mom wouldn't let me and they have closing hours
Ian<3
I know. When I got my car that was the first place I went. =]
Once I was at Borders and they told me I had to leave... I hadn't realize they were closing. XD
But I prefer used bookstores. I love to feel like I found something amazing. =]
Bristym
yeah, and they always have the best selection of books, because everyone drops their books off there. besides, its always cheaper because the books are used.
Ian<3
Yeah. And it's easier to buy more when you're getting them so cheap. =] I love the ones where everything is all over the place. One time I found this really old copy of Wuthering Heights. It was awesome. I love the way onld books look.
Bristym
yep! ive never read wuthering heights, though. is it good? right now, im working on finishing up the black stallion series
Ian<3
Ohhh I loved Wuthering Heights. I love it. But I loved New Moon. I love books that make me sad. They are by far my favorite. So if you like that kind of thing, sad stories and such, you'll love it.
Bristym
cool. I like sad books, as long as there isn't anything about animals dying. i dont mind people dying though, as long as they aren't the main character or anything
Ian<3
OMG!!
That is so weird I am exactly the same!! Like exactly.
Once I was watching The Patriot with my mom, which is a very bloody movie, and people were just dying all the time and my mom was crying. Well, I was affected, like I thought it was sad, but then the main character stabbed this horse threw the chest just to get it's rider to fall. I was so disgusted. Like what did that horse ever do wrong!!
OMG!! That is strange.
I've never heard anyone else say that before, besides me. XD
Bristym
yeah? a movie that really got to me was "my dog skip". A really sad part was when these bad guys were after a kid and his dog, and the dog tried to protect the kid, and the bad guys found a shovel and whacked the dog. i bawled for i dont know how long after i saw that.
Ian<3
Oh my goodness!!
That is horrible.
They hit the dog with a shovel?
I would have so been crying. =[
Bristym
yep. i never watched the movie again. now that i think of it, i would probably still bawl my eyes out if i ever saw it again anyways
Ian<3
I cry so hard on Homeward Bound.
Man that movie made me cry. =[
Bristym
me too. i love the plot of the movie...it's kind of beautiful in it's own, animalistic kind of way
Ian<3
I know what you mean. It is just sweet.
I heard they made like sequels and stuff though.
I usually don't like them, unless they are based on a book series....
Bristym
see, for me, i usually dont watch a movie that's based off of a book, because i have such high standards for it, and they almost always end up disappointing me, like the Eragon movie. I was ticked!
Ian<3
I haven't read Eragon yet, so I haven't watched the movie. I hate reading books after I've seen the movie. I normally won't do it. But Yeah I never like the movies as well. But usually they are pretty well made, and I love film.
But you like the book Eragon then?
Bristym
the Eragon series is amazing, though the first book is a little slow in the beginning. the movie wasn't even made good, and they left out a few major parts. i never watched the movie again, it made me so angry, but that's just my opinion. maybe some people liked, idk. and yeah, i usually dont watch movies before i read the book, because the books are so much better and they have more detail.(sorry for the ovel. i could go on and on about this topic)
Ian<3
Lol no worries. Some of my friends get all mad when I talk about stuff like this, so I like being able to vent. XD
But yeah I am just into detail.
I love books that are full of it. But not the ones that are so detailed that it's like reading a computer manual or something.
Bristym
i know exactly what you mean. like, one of the michael crichton (r.i.p.) books that i was reading spent like 15 pages describing statistics from some important research project or other. i couldn't make head or tales out of it.
Ian<3
Yeah it's like too much of a good thing
Or however that saying goes....
Bristym
i dont know what that saying is...
Ian<3
Lol yeah I usually get them wrong. XD
Bristym
im lucky if i can even remember them in the first place to get them wrong in the end!
Ian<3
Haha yeah I don't know why I keep trying to use them.
Bristym
there are some pretty neat ones that i know are out there but cant remember...curse my smallish memory...
Ian<3
I like to think it's because I learn so many new things everyday that things that I don't use I forget. XD
Bristym
ha! i think i'll use that more often, as an excuse for anyone who gets annoyed at my "learning too much"!
